Along with many others, I’m shamelessly ripping off this bit from The Tonight Show. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, they say. Please do play the music as you read.
The alarm pierces the blissful quiet with it’s ugly, soul-sucking noise. Snooze. Just five more minutes. (That’s the title of my forthcoming autobiography, by the way).
Thank you, headbands. You beautiful pieces of stretchy fabric. You who wrap my messy, snarled, unwashed tresses in grace and beauty. You who make it seem as though this messy bun is an artful style choice, a little bohemian flair, instead of the result of staying in bed a little longer. Because who really wants to get up earlier just to fuss with hair?
You know my secrets. The hairspray buildup. The weird cowlick. The spot on the back of my head where the hair grows curlier than everywhere else. You hide it all. You assure me, with a gentle whisper, that nobody will ever know.
I don’t know what I’d do without you.
Please don’t ever go out of style.
