Two things:
If you have time for Facebook, you have time for Bible study and prayer. “Busyness” is a thin excuse for spiritual laziness.
If there is a lot of conflict in your life, there is a good chance that you have too much time on your hands. Get a hobby. Better yet, go help someone in need.
Don’t misread this. I’ve used all the excuses and I’ve been part of more drama than I care to think about. I’m not standing in a place of superiority, hurling bricks at you. I’m also not saying that rest is a bad thing or that there won’t be days when you just don’t feel like reading the Bible. What I am is incredibly weary of our collective lack of personal responsibility. We, the Body of Christ, really need to put on our big kid pants. It’s high time we stopped coddling ourselves and each other in our sin and slothfulness, a word that includes “spiritual or emotional apathy, neglecting what God has spoken” in its definition.
Imagine how disturbing it would be to see a 45-year-old feeding at his mother’s breast.
Yeah.
It’s time we grew up.
