I can’t speak highly enough of this group of people. Most of us have never met in person, and yet there is genuine love. Real friendship. Laughter and tears, prayers and pondering. I shake my head even now thinking about the wonderful happenstance of it all.
The wonderful working of God.
I’m not sure what Kate was thinking with this prompt tonight. We write about: ten.
Go.
Ten Truths: Some That are Universal and Others That Should Be
* You are beloved by the Creator of the universe.
* When crabby, take a nap.
* Dogs are better than cats & Pepsi is better than Coke.
* Choose life. Get help.
* Leggings are not pants.
* Quality over quantity.
* Women – all women, all sizes, all shapes, all ages, all ethnicities – are beautiful.
* Cilantro tastes like soap.
* Writing soothes the soul.
* Jesus saves. Every time.
Bonus Eleventy!
In the comments, my friend pointed out that I forgot to include two very important things:
* “Meat should never be in the shape of a loaf and nothing edible should ever jiggle as much as jello does.”
Stop.
Coming back to edit (which I’m not supposed to do).
I decided to look and see what book of the Bible comes in at the 10th slot, and then go to the 10th verse of the 10th chapter. Doing so took me here:
“And the rest of the people he put under the command of Abishai his brother, that he might set them in battle array against the people of Ammon.” – 2 Samuel 10:10 (NKJV)
This is quite interesting, for the context here is an Israelite battle against the Ammonites and Syrians. A battle that occurred at the apex of King David’s reign. Following this are Bathsheba, Tamar’s desolation and “Absalom, my son, my son.” Years of sin and strife and struggle.
David forgot, for a time, to stay engaged in the battle.
Something to ponder.

Love this! No sure about cilantro tasting like soap!!! ha ha! Thank you for sharing the 10th book of the Bible and the verse in the tenth spot. It does give me a lot to ponder. Hugs friend!

Cilantro totally tastes like soap. I promise! (A genetic mutation causes this).
At first I wasn’t sure if there was anything I could say about that verse, but there’s actually a lot of tension right at that point. They haven’t won the battle yet.
Then in terms of the narrative, we know what comes next but David doesn’t. It’s like this bright moment before the fall and the thud.

YES!!! Finally, someone who agrees with me about that blasted Cilantro!!!! UGH. And I thought they just forgot to rinse my bowl well when I ate that white chicken chili at that restaurant the other night…
And yes to the stretchy pants, and yes to the dogs over cats.
And thank you for the reminder of David, the battle and the struggles to follow. We must stay strong and remember, we are in a battle now. Every day.

Loved this, Marie! You always have a way of bringing depth to what you write. I’m thinking about your words regarding 2 Samuel 10:10. 🙂 But, that truth about women? We sure need that reminder often enough.
And for cilantro? Call me crazy (and you probably will) but I love it as a seasoner–in salsa, ceviche, and a certain Thai peanut sauce I make. My husband on the other hand? He’d probably agree with you. 🙂

It wouldn’t quite by FMF if I didn’t stop over here to see what one of my favorite blogging sisters is writing up! I especially loved #2,4, and 8. YES YES YES! And when we finally meet in person, we can share pepsi, because though I don’t drink it often anymore, it is hands down my favorite soda!

how fun this was! I always had dogs and cats growing up, but I’ll have to say that when my husband and I were still engaged and he said I could pick one of the kittens to keep…I realized my true loyalty lies on the feline side. She’s 11 now and still sleeps by my side. I enjoy how your first and last list items are loved by the Creator and Jesus saves every time. That is the Alpha and Omega, and there needn’t be anything else.
