Five Minute Friday: Hide

My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen

Gentle Reader,

Not gonna lie. I’m really tired.

And I’m thinking about that in connection to our prompt.

Kate. The gang. We: hide.

Go.

Under Your Wings”

Jesus, let me feel the feathers

Soft against my face

Lighten now my weary load

And gently slow my frantic pace

Let me cry my tears there

Wrapped in Your wings of love

Let me drop my burdens now

Safe in strong arms above

Gather me now to Your heart

Just like a Father dear

Lean down to smile upon me

Whisper, “You’ve nothing left to fear.”

Stop.

My journey to faith. (15)

  1. Marie, I LOVE this poem. I’ve lived in that place. Today in fact. Needing comfort from my Abba. Needing Him to lift my burdens. Thank goodness our God is THAT big and He loves us THAT much.

    Just beautiful.

  2. Marie,
what a beautiful poem. “He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock, that shadows a dry, thirsty land. He hideth my life in the depths of his love, and covers me there with his hand. And covers me there with his hand.”
Thanks for bringing that hymn to mind, even if you didn’t know you would.
    Love,

  3. Reminds me of two portions of scripture. The first specifically refers to the Children of Israel but the latter, I believe is for us all:

You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.

    Exodus 19:4

and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.

    Revelation 21:4

I know it’s difficult to see now (1 Corinthians 13:12) but there will come a time in the resurrection when you will look back at days like today and realize that Jesus was your strength to endure.
